Thank you for your thoughtful gestures extended to us at last Saturday’s Band Banquet upon our retirement. We appreciate each of you that contributed to the gift tree and are happy our names will be associated with a CIMC trophy.
Having spent a collective 36 years as directors (Connie 28; Rick 8) at Columbia, we have been fortunate to see thousands of students in the band program – students we have watched grow into young adults. We have been blessed to know each of you and thank you for all your efforts in keeping the Columbia Band’s “Tradition of Excellence”.
All best wishes to Ed and Kelly Medford as they take the helm.

Solo & Ensemble Festival Highlights
CONGRATULATIONS to all our band students for great performances in the recent Solo and Ensemble Festival held at CHS last Tuesday, April 16. Adjudicators from Rutherford, Lawrence, and Maury counties listened to and evaluated our band students, along students from Whitthorne Middle School. The judges awarded them ratings of Superior (the best…like an “A”), Excellent (like a “B”) and Good (like a “C”). 91 of our students rated SUPERIOR, 30 rated EXCELLENT, and 5 rated Good.

It’s Official!
After more than twenty resumes and two month of interviews in February and March, Roger White, CHS Principal, and Eddie Hickman, Director of Schools, have hired two band directors to replace Mrs. Cathey and Mr. Murphy for next year! We welcome Mr. and Mrs. Ed Medford to the Columbia Central High School Band! Ed is presently one of the band directors at Siegel High School in Murfreesboro and Kelly is the band director at Eagleville High School, also in Rutherford County. While Ed and Kelly live in Murfreesboro, they also have a farm in Hickman County.
